Resources for Young People

Education is central to supporting young people in Blackpool to achieve their potential and move confidently into adulthood. Young People’s Resources works closely with schools, colleges, training providers, and community organisations to strengthen and coordinate current education support services across the town. By connecting partners, sharing information, and responding to emerging needs, we help ensure that young people can access the right support at the right time, creating inclusive learning environments where they feel supported, engaged, and able to thrive.

Wellbeing Support & Guidance

Kooth is a free, online mental health and wellbeing service available to children and young people in Blackpool, providing accessible support at the point it’s needed most. Available outside of school hours and without the need for referrals, Kooth offers young people a safe, confidential space to access professional counselling, self-help tools, and peer support. By working alongside education settings and local services, Kooth plays a key role in supporting emotional wellbeing, reducing barriers to support, and helping young people stay engaged with learning and everyday life.

Blackpool Talking Therapies is an NHS‑run mental health support service offering free, confidential psychological therapies to adults (aged 16 and over) registered with a GP in Blackpool, Bispham, or Cleveleys. The service provides a range of evidence‑based interventions, including counselling, guided self‑help, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), mindfulness and stress‑control courses, and group workshops — all designed to support people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties such as anxiety, low mood, stress, or coping challenges. Sessions can be delivered in person, by telephone, or online, and information and self‑referral options are available to help people access the most suitable support for their needs.

Better Minds Blackpool is a community‑centred support organisation offering early intervention and holistic support for children, young people, and their families. The service helps coordinate local education, health, and social care support to improve wellbeing and outcomes, particularly for those facing emotional, behavioural, or family‑related challenges. Better Minds provides practical support such as mentoring, family guidance, help with school engagement (including attendance, EHCP applications, SEND support and advocacy), and access to community activities designed to promote resilience and positive connections. Based at a welcoming community hub, the organisation also offers social spaces, outreach crisis support, and opportunities for families to build confidence while navigating services together.

Youth Services

The Boathouse provides a welcoming, supportive space for young people in Blackpool who need additional help to re-engage with education and build confidence in their learning. Through targeted programmes, practical support, and close partnership working with schools and local services, The Boathouse helps address barriers such as attendance, wellbeing, and emotional resilience. By offering a safe environment alongside tailored support, it plays an important role in strengthening current education provision and supporting positive outcomes for young people.

Blackpool Football Club plays an important role in supporting young people in the town through education, engagement, and community-based programmes delivered via the club and its community trust. Working in partnership with schools and local services, the club uses the positive power of football to support attendance, motivation, wellbeing, and personal development. Through targeted interventions and accessible activities, Blackpool FC helps young people build confidence, develop skills, and stay connected to education and positive opportunities.

The Magic Club is a youth-focused programme in Blackpool offering a variety of engaging activities for children and young people, from Year 3 through to Year 13. It provides opportunities for creative expression, arts, social development, and life skills, alongside holiday activities and healthy snacks through initiatives like the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme. By combining structured sessions with fun, safe, and supportive environments, The Magic Club helps young people build confidence, make friends, and develop essential skills to thrive in education, community life, and beyond.

Blackpool Boys & Girls Club (HAF) provides a safe, welcoming space for children and young people across Blackpool to engage in sports, creative activities, and social development programmes. Catering to ages 8–25, the club offers structured sessions, holiday activities (including HAF), mentoring, and wellbeing support, helping young people build confidence, develop life skills, and stay engaged with education and their communities. Through partnership working with local schools, youth services, and charities, the club plays a key role in promoting positive opportunities and reducing barriers to learning and personal growth.
