Tom's Story: Learning from a Domestic Homicide Review
Tom is a victim of, and the child of a victim of, domestic abuse.
This impactful and thought-provoking multiagency training has captured Tom's voice, as part of a Domestic Homicide Review undertaken after his mother's death. Utilising Tom’s own words to offer practitioners an insight into a child’s experience of parental domestic abuse in order to promote child-centred and trauma-informed practice.
Aims and objectives:
- Child’s voice: To share Tom’s story and learn what we can from his family's experience
- Increase knowledge and awareness of key themes of domestic abuse, coercive control, neglect and impact on mental health
- Consider the impact of trauma and adverse childhood experiences on children
